Burst mode
Hi,
Would you please explain me that how the burst mode work in Vector? More specifically, my question is as follows:
When I fix the Burst Interval to 6 and sampling per burst to 10, does that mean that the instrument will collect 10 data at a second with 6 second interval? Then, if it would be true, what is the effect of frequency at this case?

Mehrdad
Hi Mehrdad,
In burst mode you specify two parameters, Burst Interval which is the time between when bursts start and Samples Per Burst, which sets the number of samples collected in the burst.
In the example you gave, there would be a new burst every 6 seconds which would contain 10 samples. The Rate parameter still controls how fast the samples are taken. If you set the rate to 64 Hz, the 10 samples would take 0.15 seconds to be collected. If you set Rate to 1 Hz, you would receive an error since 10 samples can not be collected in 6 seconds at a rate of 1 Hz.

Yes, the Vector will report the distance to the center of the sample volume so the volume will extend half of the height above and below this value. The Vector should report the distance to the boundary from both the sample volume and central transducer (or probe as labelled in the data files) at the beginning and end of the measurement cycle.
